Our Story
-
October 2011
Precision Toxicology was founded by Jason Hansen in October 2011 with the goal of transforming healthcare through clinical laboratory science, while accepting and incorporating only ethical business solutions representing the highest quality standards, rooted in honesty, fairness, and transparency.
-
January 2012
In January 2012, President and CEO Miguel Gallego joined Precision as Chief Operating Officer, working closely with Jason to develop the company’s mission, vision, and values.
-
March 2013
In March 2013, with only 13 employees, Precision received our first Urine Drug Testing (UDT) specimens.
Ever since, we have been committed to delivering actionable clinical data to help clinicians improve patient outcomes. As a new company, we initially used the same LC-MS/MS instruments and validated our test methods at the same cutoff levels as the leading toxicology labs in the industry.
-
2014
In 2014, we asked the question, “What should drug cutoff levels be if sensitivity was not limited by technology?”
We performed a statistical analysis of more than 46,000 of the most commonly positive drugs from our panel to see if our cutoff levels were low enough to ensure a less than 1% false negative rate, statistically speaking. The results were astounding. The study determined that current industry standard cutoff levels were suboptimal for more than 30 of the most commonly tested drugs.
-
2015
Discovery from our research led us to launch the NextGen Precision Testing platform in 2015.
We invested in research-grade instrumentation and deployed the most advanced ultra-high sensitivity LC-MS/MS technology for clinical urine and oral fluid drug testing. NextGen Precision Testing set a new standard by offering LC-MS/MS testing with statistically derived cutoff levels. This means we go lower, and do so reliably, without compromising quality.
-
September 2015
In September 2015, with 202 employees, Precision Toxicology became Precision Diagnostics.
-
June 2016
In June 2016, the Precision Team of more than 280 employees, expanded into a new 56,000 square foot campus.
Our robotic laboratory facility was built with intelligent attention to detail, instilling the principle “form follows function” into every element. We developed the floor plans in tandem with the organization of anticipated workflow, accessibility, and expansion. Our building was designed to optimize processing, delivering the most accurate, efficient, and expedient solutions, while maintaining the highest levels of quality, safety, and compliance. Our laboratory’s distinct glass design is a physical representation of Precision’s commitment to transparency, honesty and fairness, the key measures of integrity.
-
2017
A targeted Sales Expansion in 2017 led by our Vice Presidents of Sales, Mike Day and Cortney Hergenroeder, grew our sales team by delivering NextGen technology and improving patient outcomes in new territories across the country.
-
March 2019
In March 2019, we launched an expanded panel for Oral Fluid Testing, giving clinicians additional options for supervised, non-invasive medication monitoring.
-
Today
After undergoing strategic expansion for 2019, we continue to move into new territories and grow with new employees into 2020.
With 400+ employees and counting, Precision Diagnostics remains committed to processing every specimen through the lens of our core values: innovation, integrity, insights, and outcomes. Each sample we receive at our laboratory is a unique opportunity to help clinicians improve patient outcomes and could even save a life.
